STAR Grain Perfect Stain Base
Custom Color Mixing with O-J Colorants
Materials required:

1. GRAIN-PERFECT®
STAIN BASE # 43-181
2. O-J™ TINTING COLORS
3. Finish with desired sealer and topcoat


STAR O-J TINTING COLORS are fine ground pigments in oil. They can be used to tint or adjust the color of most any oil based finishing material.

The GRAIN-PERFECT STAIN BASE formula contains all of the ingredients of a pigment wiping stain, minus the color. The stain base is used to extend (reduce color) of any stock color.

By adding O-J TINTING COLORS to the GRAIN-PERFECT STAIN BASE, a high quality pigment wiping stain of any desired color is produced.

 How to use:
Mix any combination of STAR O-J TINTING COLORS into the GRAIN-PERFECT STAIN BASE at a rate between 3% and 20%. Use about
3% for lighter colors such as light oak. Use 12% for medium colors such as medium oak. Use 20% for darker colors such as dark oak (DO NOT EXCEED 20%). To shade warmer add red tones, to shade cooler add yellow or green tones.
Apply your custom stain with a brush or cloth, then wipe off excess. Allow approximately 30 minutes drying time before topcoating.
